FoICS go green!

Climate Change is a big thing. It’s in the news every day and now our kids are going on strike. It’s time for the FoICS to get in on the action! Recycling paper, plastic and glass is probably second nature at home, but we need to consider how we do more to reduce, reuse and recycle at our events.

We're all used to paying online for things in other areas of life, so FoICS are going online too! You'll be able to pay for Movies & Munch, Discos and the Quiz Night on our website. No change or envelopes needed!

We also want to reduce how much paper we use, so we'll be exploring other methods of communicating with you. Look out for upcoming events advertised on the notice board at the front of school, messages on your class WhatsApp groups, ParentMail and, of course, our website.

We don’t want anyone to miss out on our communications, so if you know a parent who is not receiving ParentMails from us, let them know they can speak to the school office who will add them to the distribution list.

Now here is the boring bit. In order for us to achieve our goals we will need to slightly increase the entrance fee to some of our events. This will go towards:

  • Transaction fees for going online.

  • Compostable and recyclable containers, plates, cutlery and cups.

  • Funds to explore alternatives to plastic “toot” at the discos.

  • Contribution to Santa in return for better quality presents at the Grotto.

  • Environmentally friendly Glitter!
