Christmas Market for the children
We’re putting on some stalls for children to buy gifts for their parents or other grown up loved ones. It’ll be in school time on Friday 11th December.
Each gift will be £1 in cash. So that there is enough for everyone, there will be a limit of two gifts per child. Please try and give the correct change to your child.
We hope this event will encourage children to think about what someone else might like and to do something nice for those they care about.
Please help - we need donations. To run this event, we’re asking for donations of small gifts for grown ups (like smellies or other unwanted and unopened gifts - no soft toys please). There will be a collection box in reception and the deadline is Monday 30th November.
Give a Gift
Give the gift of Christmas this year and donate any unopened toys and gifts to children in our community who may not get much this year due to their current circumstances. If you don’t have anything to hand, perhaps start a collection with friends to purchase a gift to donate.
We’re looking to collect items for all primary school ages and genders - but we can also make use of donations for other ages (babies, toddlers and teenagers) through other connections we have with local hospices and refuges.
There will be a donation box in reception (please don’t wrap items). Thank you for your generosity – it really will make a difference this Christmas.
Cards for our Elders
Thanks to the lovely suggestions from our parent community, we'll be providing blank greeting cards to all students at the school to create home-made Christmas cards for local care homes (Ashlar house near St Margaret’s, Weald Hall in Thornwod, and Wensley House on Bell Common).
It is so important to keep our elder community safe from Covid, but this may mean they can’t see their friends or family in person. We have an amazing community in Epping, and we can show our elders that we care.
What you need to do
-
A blank card (without envelope) will be sent home around during the week of 23rd November. Decorate the front cover using anything you like - paint, pens, glue, stencils, ribbons, glitter etc.
-
Write a short letter inside. Your words will mean so much, so choose them well - take a look at our top tips if you need some help. Personalising your card can also make it feel more special - we have a limited list of names so please email vicechair@foics.org if you would like to add this.
-
Once complete, pop them in the collection box in reception by Friday 11th December. We’ll take photos of the cards for a slideshow, and will put them in envelopes, ready to be quarantined.
Toy swap
And finally, a sneak peek at 2021 - a toy swap event! Details to follow in the new year! Happy Christmas everyone!
